The Adelaide port was at the north end of the city, beyond suburbs. We had another excursion included with our trip that took us into the city, and we learned once we got onto the coach that we would be stopping at the botanical garden. We went through the city, which wasn’t originally a penal colony, and was originally settled by a bunch of persecuted German Lutherans. The city is laid out beautifully, and when we arrived at the gardens, Jess was a little grumpy about seeing more trees. We went in and found that there is a Dale Chihuly exhibition installed and she immediately got interested. It was lovely:

We were heading out of the gardens and saw a building that we thought might sell some merch, so we wandered in, and it turned out to be the national wine museum, and there was a beautiful tasting room and restaurant. We grabbed a snack and some drinks.

They had their first rain in months, so we got to use our umbrellas. They are in an extreme drought, so the rain was welcome.

We wanted to see some nearby museums, which had a large aboriginal artifact collection. We went to an art museum and then a natural history museum

It is a very nice city, and felt a lot smaller than Melbourne and Sydney, probably because it is. We found the train station and jumped on the train which took us right back to the port: so easy! I give Adelaide a very high rating in my book!
