Day 71: Eden, Australia

We were detained in Sydney harbor until 1:00AM, which delayed our arrival to Eden until 1:00PM. Apparently a passenger was forcefully removed from the ship after the border security had dogs on the ship for 2 days. I think they knew someone was moving something, and they had to find them and “it”, whatever it was. No formal announcement, just a lot of gossip.
Eden is a small town, especially compared to Sydney. We were told that it was fairly poor, but there is a lot of natural beauty there. We booked some e-bikes when the ship was docking, and were told that they overbooked the e-bikes by one. I told them to just give me a mountain bike and I would be fine. There were a few hills, and they were steep! I had to paper-boy up a few!
The town was small, running about 3 blocks. We hugged the coast and found a nature preserve with a lovely boardwalk to ride on. There were a lot of birds, making calls like I’ve never heard before.
It started raining, which wasn’t unpleasant, so we headed back early. The ship stayed until 9PM as we arrived late. But not much was open on Sunday, so we kept it chill. Seeing the wild cockatoos was fun! The lady who owned the bike rental, Jess, had a very big baby, and told us he weighed 5 kilos at birth: 11lbs!
As I wrote this, we are passing the Southeast corner of the continent on the way to Melbourne: Florida if we were in the USA:
