Dunedin is located pretty far south on the South Island, at the end of Otago harbor, which is pretty large. We docked in Port Chalmers, a small port town, which I wish we’d had some time to explore. It was pretty blustery when we debarked from the ship, and we realized that we were underdressed with the wind chill. We decided to take the bus into Dunedin, which took about 45 minutes with a wait. We got there before many stores opened, and it was Sunday, so a lot of shops didn’t open at all.
We went into a very nice public art gallery.
We saw an amazingly huge tree in a park
And then we did a brewery tour
The brewery sits atop a spring, and have to provide free drinking water to the population in order to tap the spring. There is a nice foot operated tap, and the water is excellent. The beer tasting followed, and was also excellent. I took away a liter of IPA.
Dunedin is a lovely place, another New Zealand winner!
