Sunrise is at 8:15 here, so it was a little strange to depart the ship in the dark. We decided to go to Gaudi’s Basilica de la Sagura Familia. All English tours were sold out, so we decided to take the French tour, but by the time we went to purchase, the last spots were gone. Our guy told us how to navigate to it, and we thought we would just check out the exterior and go do something else. We found the subway, and I gotta say that it was super clean and efficient. Probably the best subway I have ever travelled on. We transferred trains and came up right next to the masterpiece that is still under construction:
We spoke with the security guard who told us that we had to see the inside. We were able to book an English tour and lucked out with a guide who has been giving tours for many years, and was extremely knowledgeable. The inside was more impressive than the outside and these pictures don’t even begin to do it justice:
He also built a school for the worker’s children, which looks simple next to the basilica, but set a standard for modern architecture. The school was for Maria Montessori to begin her adventure into education She has influenced millions of children worldwide with her smart, no nonsense theories about how children learn and how not to interrupt them when they begin making strides . If there is a God, his name is Gaudi and he is buried in Barcelona.

we are huge fans of Barcelona!
