In For our stop in Capetown, a friend that we’ve met on the cruise arranged for a friend of her brothers’ to pick us up from the port and take us around. The thing I wanted to see were the penguins on Boulder Beach. It was kind of far, but Neil was a great guide, even though we were told not to expect a guide, and he pointed out many interesting places along the way. I was struck with the beauty of the place, and is seems that there are a lot of wealthy white folks.

I was surprised that there are penguins or such a warm place! We got really chilly seeing them in Ushuaia. But there they are, breeding and nesting right there. There were signs warning to check for penguins under your car before leaving. There must be squashed birds from time to time!

After we had our fill of penguins, we were treated to a scenic drive back to the waterfront for some lunch. We saw the back of table mountain and some of the wineries. We also saw a prison located right in the middle of wine country.

Neil took us to a nice seafood restaurant for lunch and back to the port in time for our immigration exit stamp. I wish they would have given us 2 days here, as there is so much to see and do, but the traffic gets pretty bad. Neil left us with a bottle of wine and a bottle of sherry!
